robert, my brother in law, had decided to accompany me for the 1st day.

as it turned out, i was deeply in need of that!

cycling was really enjoyable and we were very lucky with the weather: no rain!  so we moved along quickly. around noon we passed tulln, and it was high time to get something to eat. the first gasthaus we approached was a failure, but the waitress gave us a tip where we might find something. she almost apologised, that she didn't feed us. 

the next stop was the gasthaus ehn in langenschönbichl. miss ehn was a bit astonished, when i told her my story, i don't think she believed me. but it got me some noodlesoup. i wasn't really full after that, so i asked for a krapfen at a little hut, where they sold only krapfen and drinks. the owner was suspicious at first and wanted to see the article from the 'der falter'. that led to a very interesting discussion about refugees and it turned out, that he supports a schoolgirl in peru. so far people have been very helpful!

after a long ride we arrived in melk in the evening, very hungry. the first restaurant we came across was quite upscale. nevertheless, i told the waiter my story, and at once he offered me a schnitzel. i really needed it, my energy level was below zero. 

we searched for a place to stay over night for some time, then we rode a little further to winden, where we found the last illuminated window of a house. a very nice couple offered their barn, which we gladly accepted. they provided us with extra blankets and hot tea. live is good again. 

people were very nice and interested in my story today;  however, i found it hard to play my part. but it seems to be worth it. today i made 125 km.
